Welcome to Foxtail Hollow
Miniature American Shepherds Raised with Love in Eastern North Carolina
We're the Stanley family. I'm Angie, and together with my daughter Sarah, we're the heart and faces behind Foxtail Hollow. Although really, it's a labor of love that involves our whole family.
We started Foxtail Hollow in 2023 with a pretty simple desire: to raise puppies in a way that reflects how we believe dogs should live - inside our home as cherished members of our family and woven into everyday life.
Every dog here that is part of our breeding program belongs first to someone in our family as their companion. They're our dogs before they're ever breeding dogs, and that matters a lot to us.
We currently focus on Miniature American Shepherds, a breed our family has completely fallen in love with.
We keep natural tails on our puppies and do not remove dew claws.
Raised Right Here With Our Family
Our puppies are born and raised right here in our home, where we're able to be very hands-on with them from the beginning.
As they grow, we gradually introduce them to new experiences, sounds, surfaces, car rides, crates and lots of normal everyday family life. We begin early potty habits and give them opportunities to build confidence and learn how to settle.
Of course, there is plenty of time for playing, exploring, snuggling and just being puppies too. 🥰
Our goal isn't to create perfectly trained little puppies before they leave us. They're still babies. We simply want to give them a really good foundation for the families who will continue raising them.
Getting to Know Each Puppy
One of my favorite parts of raising a litter is watching their individual personalities begin to show.
Some puppies are ready to dive right into anything new. Others like to hang back for a minute and figure things out first. Some are busy and adventurous, while another may be perfectly happy hanging out beside you.
Because we spend so much time with our puppies, we naturally get to know those differences as they grow. Around seven weeks old, we also do individual temperament evaluations.
Our goal is to thoughtfully match each puppy with a family and lifestyle where we believe they will thrive and be cherished. Looks certainly matter when you're falling in love with a puppy and we absolutely want to take into account your personal preferences on sex and even color but we also believe the individual temperament and personality of each puppy is also important to consider when choosing the right puppy.

A Good Fit Matters
Finding the right fit matters to us, both for our puppies and for their future families.
We love getting to know the families who are considering one of our puppies and are always happy to answer questions along the way. We also offer video calls so you can meet us, see our dogs and puppies, and get a feel for whether Foxtail Hollow might be the right fit for your family.
New to Miniature American Shepherds?
We dearly love this breed, but that doesn't mean they're the right dog for every family. We've shared more about what they're actually like to live with and some things to consider before deciding.
